Founded in 2010, the Universal Basketball Association (UBA) was established with one purpose: to create opportunities for talented basketball players who deserve a chance to compete, develop, and advance their professional careers.

The UBA was built on a simple belief: Talent exists everywhere, but opportunity does not.

For more than a decade, the UBA has served as a developmental basketball platform for players, coaches, and organizations seeking to reach the next level. Through competitive basketball, professional exposure, and relationships throughout the basketball industry, the league has helped hundreds of athletes pursue their dreams.

The UBA has built a history of national recognition, professional basketball relationships, and player advancement, establishing itself as a respected name in the American minor-league basketball community.

NATIONAL RECOGNITION: SLAM MAGAZINE

One of the most significant moments in UBA history came when the league received national recognition from SLAM Magazine, one of America's most influential basketball publications.

In 2012, the UBA was recognized as the No. 1 minor-league basketball organization in the United States, a distinction the league proudly includes among its historical achievements.

On December 17, 2012, SLAM Magazine published “More Than Just a League,” highlighting the UBA's growing presence in American basketball and its commitment to providing opportunities for overlooked talent.

The UBA's national exposure also included SLAM's September 24, 2011 feature, “The Journey of Jermaine Barnes,” which highlighted one of the league's most recognized players and his pursuit of professional basketball opportunities.

These features helped introduce the UBA's mission and the talent within the league to a national basketball audience.

Our vision is to become one of North America's leading developmental basketball organizations by establishing a sustainable network of competitive teams, regional divisions, and professional opportunities.

We aim to build an organization recognized for its professionalism, competitive standards, player development, and ability to help athletes advance their careers.

The UBA's long-term vision is to serve as a bridge between developmental basketball and higher levels of competition, including NCAA programs, international professional leagues, and other professional basketball organizations.

We believe the future of basketball depends on creating more opportunities for talented players to be discovered, developed, and given a chance to succeed.

A NEW ERA: UBA 2027

The Universal Basketball Association is preparing for its highly anticipated return in the summer of 2027 with an expanded vision for the future of developmental basketball.

Building on its history of national recognition and player advancement, the UBA is establishing new divisions across North America.

The league's 2027 expansion includes:

• Georgia

• Florida

• Alabama

• Illinois

• Arizona

• Canada

This expansion represents an important step toward creating a stronger regional basketball network while maintaining the UBA's original mission.

Each division will provide opportunities for team ownership, competitive basketball, player development, and organizational growth.

The UBA's return is about more than bringing back a basketball league. It is about restoring a platform that has already helped hundreds of athletes pursue their dreams and expanding that opportunity to a new generation.
