Coach Davis Returns and Seeks first International Cup

In an exciting development for the Narahino Chiba Seals Basketball Club, Coach Michael Davis will return to lead the Japanese in the 2019 Liga Mediterranean Cup in Barcelona, Spain.

Davis has already achieved a tremendous amount of success coaching at the domestic level, particularly when he was the Head Coach of the Georgia PRIME in the Universal Basketball Association (UBA). He was one of the youngest coaches in minor league history (26) to capture several minor league championships in the USA along with Usbasket.com honors.

After taking time away from coaching duties in 2017, Davis says he's thrilled to be stepping back into the high-speed system of Japanese basketball.

'I truly miss the game of basketball", said Coach Davis. I took time away to focus on business, but when the opportunity presented itself to coach in Spain for the Japanese - it was a no brainer. I miss the passion of the UBA so now being able to take part in FIBA events will be the highlight of my career.

Coach Mike Davis has won an impressive five minor league titles including the 2015 UBA National Title in Atlanta, GA with the Georgia PRIME. In 2010, Davis was apart of the legendary GIE Maile Matrix roster that included Jermaine Barnes and former NBA legend Keith Closs. Davis was named Usbasket.com All-UBA Coach of the Year three times. He was also named Usbasket.com All-United Minor League Coach of the Year voted by national reports.

'I'm just ready to get started with the guys and can't wait to get to know my team captain, Jun Iwasa. We're excited to have the opportunity to win the prestigious Mediterranean Cup, but it takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice to attain that level of success,' says Davis.

The Narahino Chiba Seals were the last team selected for Spain. Also selected was Chabibeh Sporting Club (Lebanon), SG Bensberg Loewens (Germany), Dallas Heat (USA), Boet (Spain) and Sant Andras (Spain).
