Kevin Franklin named UBA Coach of the Month

The Universal Basketball Association (UBA) announced Monday that Houston Havok Head Coach Kevin Franklin was named UBA Coach of the Month for games played in January and February. This marks the second time Franklin has earned the honor after he won four games played in October and November in 2018.

Franklin coached the Havok to an 8-0 record (first in the UBA) to start the season while facing several roster challenges along the way. The Havok had four different players miss games due to injury, including Jon Mulmore and Robert Stokes. However, that did not stop them from finishing the month on an eight-game winning streak and a perfect 8-0 record. The team is ranked first defensively, holding opponents to a UBA-best .408 field goal shooting percentage and fourth in points allowed (83.8). Offensively, Houston is ranked first among UBA Gold teams averaging 14.3 three-pointers made and a .395 three-point shooting percentage.

A native of Lynn, MA, Coach Franklin became the first coach to win both UBA Owner and Coach of the Year awards after guiding Houston to 8 out of 10 winning seasons. He recently coached his 300th game for the Havok and holds a career record of 250 wins and only 50 losses.

Outside of the UBA, Kevin Franklin has coached for the USA National Select Team alongside former NBA Coach of the Year Sam Mitchell. Franklin won two bronze medals in the FIBA Jones Cup in Taiwan. After several seasons as an assistant, he was named head coach in the Copa Mitchell Cup in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The highlight of Kevin Franklin 's career came just two years ago in Barcelona, Spain at the Liga Mediterranean Cup.
